eventually work together on a full time basis," explains Fred Ford, the band's drummer. Fred, Jay and Scott began writing music in hopes of finding a lyricist/vocalist. Jay met Michael Krause at a party and with Scott and Fred a musical bond was formed. After working together for a while, Michael moved back to his hometown of Chicago.
In September of 1993, Mindvault was officially born. After a series of letters and tape exchanges, Michael had relocated to Nashville on some promising musical ideas by Scott, Jay and Fred. Michael says "I had so much material and they had so much material...we just knew it would work." Mindvault immediately began sorting through the tunes. "It was amazing how well Michael's lyrics and melodies fit with the music we had been working on," explains Jay.
"Initially we were going to record a standard three song demo. But when we looked at the strength of the songs we were writing, and how to a certain extent they all related to each other, we decided a demo would not be fair to us or the songs," says Scott. "We decided to record and release a full length CD."
Mindvault's self-titled, debut CD was released in July of 1995 on Eh Swa Records. After supporting that release with live shows, the band began writing new material for their next release. "The songs have grown, we're a much more mature band now", explains Fred. The band has been recording material and hope to have their next full length release out very soon. A four song sampler disc was released in March 1999 to satisfy their fan's thirst for new material.
Stay tuned for more updates as to the next CD's completion date and live performance info!!!!
